Special Statement from the Delaware Department of Education (Released 12/5/17):

The public comment period for proposed 225 Prohibition of Discrimination Regulation closed yesterday. The department received more than 11,000 comments, which deserve careful review before a decision is made. Secretary Bunting is asking the Development Team to reconvene in January to review the comments and make recommendations for changes to the regulation.  If substantive changes are made, the regulation will be published in the Register again with another 30-day public comment period before any decision on a final regulation is made.  Secretary Bunting thanks those who shared their feedback during the formal comment period. All comments received will be posted online so the public as well as committee members can review them prior to the January Development Team meeting

Crawlspace Encapsulation
The Men's Crawlspace Encapsulation Committee has met and discussed proposals with four (4) reputable contractors.  Based on quality, reputation and cost, Custom Mechanical is being recommended by the committee to best serve the needs of our community. Click here for a recap of the Encapsulation Process from the 12/15/2017 meeting which was based on inspection of the Calloway, Dorsey and Goodman/Rambler models.
These estimates may differ depending on actual scope of work to be performed after the initial FREE INSPECTION. Key points to note are:
  • Termite treatment is not included in estimate (if needed)
  • Mold treatment is $850/home (if needed) unless significant amount is found (not included)
  • Rerouting of Dryer vent is included (a different Men's initiative)
  • An Energy Audit must be performed ($100/home) to receive rebate.
Click here for the Calloway estimate, here for the Dorsey estimate and here for the Goodman/Rambler.

Road improvements on Rte 54 are now underway through the end of March

DelDOT has announced that the road improvements associated with the new Royal Farms convenience store on Route 54 east of Route 20 are now underway and will continue through the end of March. DelDOT states that all contract work on this project must be complete prior to March 30, 2018.
According  to DelDOT, the contractor must submit to DelDOT a two-week "look ahead schedule" each Thursday before the work is to begin. The schedule is to reflect specific details related to the actual construction activities proposed for those following two weeks. In order to alert motorists to potential travel delays as a result of the upcoming work, Rep. Gray has requested that DelDOT share the contractor's schedule so that he can pass along the information to constituents. He will keep constituents posted as information becomes available.
